Rachit leads the All India Investigation Team (AIIT) which is a pan-India vertical, with attorneys from different practice areas and offices of LKS.
AIIT has been assisting clients during investigations by agencies like DRI, SIIB, Customs Preventive, DGGI, DGAP, GST, FEMA, ED, etc. by providing ‘hand holding solutions’. The focus areas of AIIT are essentially: -
a) Hand-holding and round-the-clock support to clients during investigation.
b) Educating executives on their rights and responsibilities during an investigation.
c) Assistance in drafting responses to the queries raised by investigation authorities.
d) Advice on approaching courts to defend any coercive actions from the authorities.
e) Providing legal strategies to the clients post statement / search / arrest.
f) Ensuring smooth transition of the matters to the Litigation team on conclusion of the investigation.
g) Sensitizing clients on industry issues to ensure compliance.
h) Working with other practice groups to receive and provide leads on industry issues.
Being associated with LKS since September 2009, Rachit has been part of the Customs practice, and has worked in VAT and Service Tax Litigation teams at LKS.
Rachit has provided strategic advice to a wide range of clients from e-commerce, Telecom and IT, Consumer Electronics, Alcobev, FMCG, Airline, Automotive OEMs & components manufacturing, Pharma industries on all the aspects of Custom laws including classification, valuation, duty exemption & deferment, free trade agreements, export-import controls, etc.
He has also provided advisory to clients on allied laws (Legal Metrology, BIS, WPC, Medical Devices, E-waste, etc.), Foreign Trade Policy, Import & Export Compliances & Controls, and SEZ related issues.
Rachit has been advising clients on business structuring from customs and trade perspective, by providing 360° solution with Tax, GST, Corporate, Commercial and Foreign Exchange laws teams.
He represents clients before judicial and departmental forums like CESTAT, DGFT, Development Commissioner-SEZ, Customs including Advance Ruling Authority, Special Valuation Branch, etc.
Prior to joining LKS in September 2009, Rachit was associated with Majmudar & Co., Mumbai between January, 2009 – June, 2009.
